a collective decision making body.

Share resources

the village is much like a family unit. it is made up of people who are dedicated to taking care of each other and sharing resources. it could be a group of people living together on a piece of land, and apartment building or complex, a floor of a high rise, a block of a subdivision. It could be a group of people who share time online, communicate regularly and share resources.
people can be members of more than one village. Usually, each person has a home village where they physically reside and share in day to day living.
People are free to move to a different village, provided there is an opening and that village has agreed.

Villages aid in allowing everyone to live to their full potential. This means allowing for their shortcomings as well as giving outlets for their strengths.

The village may collectively produce something for itself and others or may participate in some larger social network such as a town or city and members may take on more diverse forms of work/play.

Villages are networked. They communicate, share, help when needed, celebrate, and generally look out for each other. Clusters of villages share a common goal or ideology.

Villages provide for peoples basic needs, housing, food, health care, etc.

Some villages support travelers and nomads

-----
People should not have to do more than walk for 90% of their daily activities, including going to work. of course cities may be different, but public transportation can be built in much better ways than it is now. traveling miles to work everyday should be avoided at all costs.
