A story about a culture which treats food and eating the same as Americans treat sex. No one eats in front of the children. Parents very privately teach their children to eat by trying to explain, not showing, that would be considered criminal. Children eat in isolation and the society acts as if children don't eat at all.
Food is acquired and put in storage. no one sees another take food. It would be improper to watch and impolite to ask.
